BBO Dance

Tap dance is a form of dance characterised by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion and teaches the student all about rhythm. The sound is made by shoes that have a metal "tap" on the heel and toe.

Fast and loud, fun and energetic!

Big Musical Theatre productions like Mary Poppins, 42nd Street and Anything Goes still have tap at the heart of their choreography. Performers like The Syncladies have given tap a modern touch and make it look fresh!

It is a technically complex discipline, focusing on rhythm and beats created by the steps and which has whole language of its own,  But most of all it sounds amazing !!

From out Junior age group, classes on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Commercial Jazz

Free Style Non-Syllabus

Commercial is our non-syllabus class and the dance style is taken from many other dance disciples, such as jazz, street, modern and hip hop.

Focusing on creativity and self expression, it is high energy and maximum performance.

Starting from our Mini age group, these classes are on Fridays available mixed and Boys Only classes

Musical Theatre

BBO Dance and Trinity

Using both the Trinity Musical Theatre syllabus and the BBO Musical Theatre Dance syllabus, our Musical Theatre Classes are about building confidence through acting through dance and acting through song - the Triple Threat!

We cover different dance styles, but focus is Modern Jazz.  Classes alternate between a focus on Singing one week and Dance the next.

It has been developed to build the skills necessary to communicate the dramatic content of musical text over a range of musical styles.

Students will build on voice, diction, dance, setting and staging, and musicality.

Limited class sizes ensure that each child gets the specific development and professional education they need to follow their dreams.

Classes for all ages are on Tuesdays.

Acro Jazz

BBO Acro Dance and Acrobatic Arts

Our Acro Dance classes promote co-ordination and stamina and contain exercises to strengthen, extend and loosen the body and increase flexibility.   Acro Dance is an art form specifically designed for dancers. Acro has softer, more lyrical-looking lines than floor gymnastics, with emphasis on lengthening “through” the tricks and holding beautiful balances with interesting variations.

The focus is on seamlessly blending acrobatics with dance, and avoiding obvious preparations before each trick. With the added element of Acro, students can learn acrobatics to add into their dance routines, starting with simple stretches and balances working towards more advance moves and tumbling as they progress.

At the academy classes start from Pre-School age and continue through until adult. We follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, are fully certified in teaching Acro dance and we are an official AcroPad centre so we can always offer the best to our students.

For all age groups, Mondays and Saturdays

We explore different styles and techniques to produce well rounded actors.  We look at improvisation, physical theatre, script work and devising.  We also cover Shakespeare and classic text as well as using modern screen plays to discover acting for film.

We use the Trinity acting syllabus to structure the classes and prepare students for the different types of examinations and performance experiences.  We want to create, Creative Thinkers, Reflective Learners, Team Workers, Self Managers and Effective Participants.

It doesn't matter whether they are a beginner or already begun to explore drama, we will tailor the classes to suit all levels.

In small groups, of a maximum of 4 students per class, we create a learning space designed to play to each student's strengths, teaching real musicals skills that build an individual’s ability to express their own musical identity.

We provide singing for musical theatre training and music theory training, that becomes the basis for each student to develop their own style.  Once these basics are mastered, a whole range of musical styles can be explored.
