What is it and how do we teach it.

Our Musical Theatre Classes are about building confidence with acting through dance and acting through song - the Triple Threat!
With a strong emphasis on dance techniques alongside developing their voice, diction, imagination, staging, and musicality, our program has been developed to build the skills necessary to communicate the dramatic content of musical text over a range of musical styles.
Their class is split between technical dance training and performance through Song.
The first part is using the BBO Syllabus, where students learn varied dance styes. They learn how to use dance to communicate a story and building characters through exercises that are set to songs from musicals. They learn about these musicals and the characters involved and are encouraged to do independent research on these musicals as part of the theory element.
The Second part is using the Trinity Syllabus to hone their skills in Acting through Song. Voice training and learning songs from musicals to develop their ability to tell a story through song. An important element of Musical Theatre, a student must be able to sing and dance and act all at the same time.
EXAMS

This also means we run 2 different exams for this class.
BBO Technical Dance exams are group exams which assess a series of dance exercises that could be centred around footwork, use of arms, particular dance steps like turns or jumps.
The Trinity Song and Dance solo exam is a video exam that assess 1 or 2 musical theatre songs, depending on grade, that require an element of movement/dance and finally a dance that demonstrates acting or shows the theme of the musical.
Both require a theory element to show their understanding of the pieces they are performing.
This class is extremely comprehensive and extremely varied, a real 3 in 1 class!
