Why Do We Believe is Uniform Important

Writer: Rebecca HollandsRebecca Hollands

1. Unity and Team

Just like a school uniform, it bring everyone together. When you walk into class and see everyone in similar outfits, it feels like you’re part of a team. This sense of unity boosts morale and makes everyone feel like they belong and you have a sense of pride.

2. Focus on Technique

When everyone’s wearing the same gear, it’s easier for teachers to spot and correct mistakes. A leotard or dance shirt and leggings shows off the lines of your body, helping teachers see your posture, alignment, and technique clearly. Baggy clothes can hide these crucial details, and we don’t want that!

3. Safety First! - Hair / Jewellery / Uniform

Uniforms and proper dancewear ensure safety. The right shoes provide the necessary support and grip, preventing slips and falls. Hair tied neatly back off the face means no distractions or accidental hair-whips during spins. And minimal jewellery? Trust me, you don’t want to catch an earring mid-pirouette or in a walk-over! So studs only, non necklaces, watches or bracelets that can get caught, broken or cause injury.

4. Professionalism

Dressing the part makes a difference. A leotard, branded leggings, or branded dance shirt makes you feel like a dancer/performer, ready to take your practice seriously. It’s all about creating the right mindset—when you look the part, you perform the part.

5. No Distractions

Eating in class, especially chewing gum, is a big no-no. Not only is it a choking hazard, but it also distracts you and those around you. Keeping food out of the studio keeps the focus on what’s important—dancing!

Our uniform is designed to be interchangeable between class types and there are different additional options to suit winter and summer.

So there you have it—uniforms, leotards, proper shoes, neat hair, and minimal jewellery all play a part in making dance and performance classes effective, safe, and enjoyable.
